Gregory Hamilton Miller

is a potter who makes functional wood fired and salt glazed work. Born in the United States, he studied Anthropology and Biology at Macalester College. He completed a pottery apprenticeship with Shimoaka Tatsuzo in Mashiko, Japan, and studied Japanese Anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh before moving to Denmark, where he established a studio. Together with his potter wife Janne Hieck, he is the owner of Tolne Gjæstgivergaard, their studio, gallery, café, and bnb, and also works extensively as a ceramic travel guide. He has lectured, taught, and exhibited around the world.

Janne Lene Lisbeth Hieck

is a potter who wood fires and salt glazes her work. Born in Germany, Hieck was completed her training as an apprentice and journeyman in Schleswig-Holstein, and then studied to become a master potter at the Keramikschule Landshut, receiving the gold medal for her studies upon graduation, and then moved to Denmark. Together with her husband Gregory Miller, she is the co-owner of Tolne Gjæstgivergaard, their studio, gallery, café, and bnb. She has traveled and exhibited her work extensively around the world.
